Paper vs Snowflake

Paper or snowflake? What is your preference?

I've always loved grand seiko's snowflake dial (though I can't afford one), but recently upon looking at Citizen's chronomaster paper dial, I realized I like the paper dial more. Wondering how the community feels about both.

EDIT: I forgot to attach the pictures. Both grabbed from google.

Worth the extra for the Japan model?

If both Japan model and other country manufacture is available, 3 questions;

Do you go for the Japan model?
Would you pay extra for Japan model?
Does it really matter what model you get?

Any help appreciated

FS: Seiko SRPB87 (4R35-02D0) on SKX007 Strapcode Flat Oyster $200 USD

$

Seiko SRPB87 slightly improved over the stock offering. Watch head looks new dial and case and crystal are impeccable. Submariner style rotating bezel. Everything works perfectly as expected.

Changed the stock hand set to NOS SKX007 H&M hands and a fun Seiko 5 logo sweep seconds hand to match the dial logo. The stock look was just not to most Seiko collector's liking.

Mounted on a Strapcode SKX007/SKX009 Flat Oyster. Fits well.

This is a BIG watch. Listed as 43 mm but the silver dial is 30mm diameter and it wears big. Crown is not of a locking design so it is a sport diver.

4R35 movement with large diameter glass exhibition case back.

Back when these were available, the discount sites were selling on OEM cheap bracelet at about $140 USD which was crazy low but still I start the pricing calculation there. With the NOS OEM hands and StrapCode Oyster that raises the price over $200 USD but I will make it first come at $200 USD Shipped CONUS. That is below book for the sum of the parts. I will consider offers at $175 if no takers at $200.

No trades.

Free shipping CONUS outside the USA please add $15 USD for USPS First Class International with tracking.

Thanks for looking ! PM if interested.

Check Out These Last Minute Amazon Prime Day Deals In All Categories

Amazon Prime Day is ending at the end of the day, but the deals keep coming. We have seen great deals on everything, including TVs, watches, Roomba vacuums, coffee, watches, you name it! Yes, we know this is off-topic, but we wanted to share some of our favorite deals, because regardless of what brings you to the forums, there are certain items that could be handy for just about anyone. Here's what we've seen so far.

Streamlight Stylus Pro LED Flashlight

As an ex auto tech, I have owned a number of these over the years (on account of losing them, not breaking them). They are equal parts bright and bulletproof, and they are very rarely on sale. This AAA battery version is only $19.95 right now.

Lifestraw Personal Water Filter For Hiking

This is still one of our favorite things on Amazon when it goes on sale. Currently priced under 10 bucks, these straws will ensure that you have access to clean drinking water when you are out hiking, and even though they are affordable, they last quite a long time too!

Samsung 55-inch Smart TV with Amazon Echo Plus Bundle

Get a high quality, HDR capable Samsung 55-inch RU8000 TV, along with a Amazon Echo Plus second-generation Alexa compatible smart home speaker, with this Amazon Prime Day special.

ChefSteps Joule Sous Vide

If you have been entertaining the idea of sous vide cooking, and have started doing some research, you know that the ChefSteps Joule is one of the top rated rigs out there. Right now, the Joule is marked down by 30 percent, making it a good time to buy

SunJoe Electric Pressure Washer

Whether for your house, driveway, car, truck, or ATV, there is value in having a good pressure washer. This 2,000 PSI unit is currently 36 percent off, meaning it will cost you less than $100.

Garmin vívoactive 3, GPS Smartwatch with Contactless Payments

Adventure seekers and city dwellers alike can benefit from the perks built in to the Garmin vivoactive 3 smartwatch/fitness tracker, and at $149.99 this is one of those rare times where you can get a bargain on one.

Roomba 690 Robot Vacuum

Nearly 40 percent off a robot vacuum? Sign me up. Roomba has changed how people look at day-to-day housekeeping, and they are another item that is rarely on sale.

Memory Foam Bean Bag Chair

I mean, why not? Supremely comfortable, and very affordable when the sticker price is knocked down by 67 percent.

Citizen Wristwatch

Looking for a watch that is both cheap and reliable? Citizen Watches tackles that category well, and this casual field watch of theirs is a solid choice for something you can wear while taking care of tasks around the house, or heading out into the woods, or just about anything else that doesn't involve getting all fancy. It is an easy recommendation at $56.99.

COSORI Air Fryer

We all love fried food, but cutting the fat out of your diet is always suggested (unless you are on KETO diet). This air fryer is a steal for $79.99 right now, and will let you have that fried crunch without all the oil.

Seiko 6217 Caseback

I recently acquired a Seiko 6217 watch case in pretty good condition, but no other parts. I am trying to decide how to proceed with assembling parts for it. I think initially I would like to find either an AM case back or an original not in great condition due to the high cost. Does anyone know if any other case backs will fit the 6217 case? The threads measure 30.0mm inside diameter. I found a few generic diver case backs online that measure 30.5mm outside thread diameter, so with a .25 pitch that should be pretty close to fitting. Also, I was wondering if a case back from a Seiko 6205 or similar calibre might fit.

Heritor Watches (6105 Clone) - Anyone Heard of Them?

Was looking at local online ads and came across a Heritor Morrison for sale - case shape looks an awful lot like a 6105, but of course the hands/dial/etc are different. Not a lot of info about them online in the forums, and their website isn't super helpful. Looks to have a 7s26 or 4r36 inside. Wondering if it's worth a go? The used one is being offered at $120...not premium bucks...but also not cheap. Thoughts anyone?

... not what I expected from a mid-70's chrono with an unknown service history (although, to be fair, at least a couple people appear to have scribbled their initials inside the caseback). There's some positional variation, but nothing alarming and beat error consistently <= 0.2. This is face up:

Seiko 5619 7010 - Is this for real?

$

Yesterday I was given a Seiko watch for our church's yard sale. I decided to try to research it before I priced it and based on the numbers on it, I found my way here and to an interesting thread about the 5619 7010.

It seems I may have a rare-ish watch on my hands, but there are a few things I wanted to ask all of you enthusiasts about.

First, the GMT hand does not move independently of the hour hand. It's my understanding that the mechanism that controls setting this is very finicky and I believe it's broken, but is it possible for it to be stuck to another hand rather than sitting in one place on its own?

Secondly, I can't set the date. Granted, I have difficulty with this with any watch I've had with this feature, so it could be user error. I can pull the crown out twice. The first click does nothing (broken GMT) and the second click sets the time. How can the date be changed?

Before we sell the watch, I want to be at least fairly certain its the real deal. We are in a rural community and a jeweler is a fair bit away. I'll take it in if you all think I have something, but the yard sale is this weekend and I won't have time to take it in before then.

Edited to add: I wanted to include photos so you could see for yourselves, but I don't have enough points. :(
