Seiko Flight master SBDS002
Limited edition (070/300) chronograph with power reserve. Very small marks after use but please note the scratch between 47 and 52 on the bezel (visible on pictures). Perfect hands and wonderful brown "waffle" dial, brown titanium details that mimics the color of the exhaust on a jet engine. Reportedly, it came as a suggestion from a famous Japanese combat pilot, Takahiro Iwasaki. Good power reserve (> 48h). The movement, 6S37-0010, is legendary and one of Seiko’s finest. Serviced by Seiko in Japan through Swedish authorized dealer to a cost of SEK 6895 (around GBP 570 or USD730) in April, 2018.

41mm without crown, 47mm lug to lug. The watch dates to circa 2001. It comes with original bracelet that fits roughly 18.5cm wrist, a brown leather strap (used), Seiko box (I believe not original), purchase papers from Japanese dealer and receipt of the service.
Price is 1890 EUR incl shipping worldwide

i opened up my paypal account and the last 5 cash transfers have been to people on the SCWF! wth! LOL.

you guys are a BAD influence!

on a side note: is there an alternative to paying foreign coin other than paypal? paypal has unfavorable currency translation rates; so, i thought i'd ask here since so many from so many countries deal in sending currency to each other for shiny baubles =). anything better (cheaper)?

- wire transfer?
- CC transfer?

thanks.....

Aloha ,

I have this ...Orient watch and it has a .... Cracked Plastic Crystal.
My Wife used it and like many they just let it wear flimsy and just dangles on their wrist.
They say they call it Fashion but I say it is ..... Reckless and Damaging.
Does anyone know if they make a good .... ( Mineral or Glass Crystal ) for this model ??
I am not familiar to much with ... Orient Watch's so I just need to find out about it or
possibly where to get them.
Aloha
Louis

Synchronized cats

I've noticed this before: our two cats consistently sleep in the exact same positions. This was yesterday. There was a fourth position that I didn't capture but they slept in identical positions. They are brother and sister (Faith and Simon).

Does anyone else have pets that mimic each other?

Monday was a bad day..

I was involved in a serious accident with a motorhome.

The driver of the motorhome lost control and had lost their brakes coming down a steep grade.

I was approaching an intersection and would have been turning left there..the out of control motorhome was coming down the hill on my left and the driver attempted to turn right at the intersection.

The motorhome overshot the corner, but still tried to make the right turn..and ended up in my lane, heading straight for me.

I had maybe two seconds to decide what to do.. I remember initially thinking about turning right and getting into the right lane, but quickly realized that the motorhome would have then struck me in the driver's side door.. killing me.

It was just such a long motorhome that there was just no place for me to go..any place I was, I was going to be hit.

So, I quickly took the transmission stick shift out of gear, covered my face with my left arm, closed my eyes, started praying and waited for the impact.

Just as the motorhome hit me, I let my foot off the brakes..the impact pushed my truck 60-70 feet down the road.

When we stopped sliding, and maybe a few seconds later, I heard a voice talking to me from outside my truck.. asking me if I was alright..he opened my door and released my seatbelt and I got out of the truck and walked over to the side of the road.. completely unharmed..

A couple hours later, I went to the emergency room.. I was there until about 3am.. numerous x-rays, a ct scan.. I was ok..not a scratch on me.

I'm now a bit sore from all the twisting motion and from the air bag hitting me when it deployed, but otherwise fine.

All this has got me thinking how important family and friends are and how close any of us are to death..and how something like this can come out of nowhere.

In looking at the truck, I think the motorhome struck me at the exact right angle to prevent injury to me..if my truck frame would have been any higher {the truck is lowered from the factory}, if I hadn't started turning right just then..or if I had turned right any further..all that would have been very bad.

Thanks for all your continued prayers and well wishes..means alot to me..and I'm very glad to be alive.

Best,

Mike

For some reason when I saw this watch on line I just had to have it. It "spoke to me". The art-deco styled dial, cool bracelet, and the stamped crown was a nice touch as well. My collection is nothing but vintage Seiko divers so this is new to me. Not sure about the China made auto movement used in it but dont care. If it last more than a year or two I got my money's worth of enjoyment.

Seiko 6309-7040 Questions - Bezel Click Ball, Stem Spring Washer & colourin a Lume Pi

$

Hi Guys

I have 3 questions regarding a Seiko 6309-7040 I'm working on and decided to just place them in one thread:

1. I have a case with no click ball. Whats the best option for its replacement. Are the ebay click balls OK?

2. Does anyone sell just the tiny Stem Spring Washer?

3. The plastic lume pip is fine but the lume paint is missing, so it is transparent. I don't want it to glow, so I assume a drop of white paint should do the trick.

Thanks for the advice

Dan

Project Restoration/Build - 1970 7017-6010 Speedtimer JDM Proof

I wanted to update you all on my latest project build of my recently acquired 7017-6010 Speedtimer, a first for me. I am fairly new to this forum and I appreciate some of the more seasoned members helping me out with answers to my questions. Your guidance has been invaluable.

The watch was a pickup from eBay from a Japanese seller who stated the watch ran well but had a slow return button. I figured that was just sticky seals and took a gamble and purchased the watch. The bracelet is from a recent project I completed on a 79 Seiko 6319-6000 and believe it or not the end links fit the Speedtimer perfectly. The clasp says Seiko Speedtimer but is off of a 6138 Bullhead bracelet I have sitting around that is pretty much junk. Case lines were good and brushing intact. Case was lightly refinished and new crystal installed courtesy of Spencer Klein of Klein Vintage Watch Repair. He had a NOS crystal he was kind enough to sell it to me for this project. The inner rotating bezel is in decent condition but the lume pip at the top was deteriorating and I feared it would flake off onto the dial unless I stabilized it so I went ahead and put some new lume over the top of it.

The watch is completely disassembled, cleaned and ready to go back together. This movement has two jewel settings on the winding bridge that I had to remove clean, oil and reinstall. I ran into one issue with the center wheel bridge. As you can see in the pic there is a jewel bushing that appears cracked and damaged. The damage was minor and I thought about taking this to my watchmaker to have him install a new bushing, but I was able to source a brand new bridge from a seller on eBay. Believe it or not, the most difficult part thus far for me was servicing the mainspring. This is a split type barrel and I finally figured out I could take a very sharp knife and work around the edge were the two halves come together. Once I figured that out, I set about servicing the mainspring. Having worked on a 6106 and 6319 I figured I would wind the spring and install the same way. Wrong. Turns out I installed the spring upside down, not once but twice before getting it right. Glad I drew a picture. I had to pull out my entire arsenal of tools on this build not to mention purchasing an S-510 movement holder from VTM just to reinstall the chrono hand. More updates to follow once my parts arrive. Thanks for looking.

FSOT: Seiko SARG001 white alpinist, 900$

I am offering very rear and discontinued JDM Seiko SARG001 also called "white alpinist".

Condition: fantastic, case, bezel and glass are perfect, little marks on the back from changing straps. Bracelet also great with very little signs of desk marks (check the photos)

Specs: 40.5mm diameter, 11.6mm thick, 20mm lugs, sapphire glass and sapphire viewcaseback, movement 6R15C (50hrs), 100m WR, inner rotating bezel operated with the second crown.

Worn it only as my dress watch. Beautiful dial really catches the light, the hands also give an illusion of changing color depends on the light and positioning (from silver to almost black), applied indices and applies silver Seiko sign, lume on hands and indices. IMHO, a great size (one of the reason I chose this over SARB035) and can be worn as dressy or sporty casual option. Bracelet is also better then most of Seiko's with nice thick clasp. Currently sized for my 7.5 inch wrist but comes with all the links.

The watch comes in full package.

Asking 900$ / 790€ / 680£. I am in EU and can ship worldwide (ask for quotes).

Trading: only in EU for Orient 300m white Saturation Diver in great condition.

Feel free to ask for any info.

Thank you.
