Had some fun trading with Jerry (Zeke441), so wanted to share some of the details and pics. Jerry is an absolute gentleman, and he does excellent restoration and service work, to boot.
It all started just before Christmas when Jerry posted a WTB for a 6106-8237. I believe he may have just wanted a case and case back, but I had two complete watches, one with original bracelet. They were actually with Tom (SeikoPsycho2) in his queue, and Tom being the good guy that he is, agreed to send them directly to Jerry. I told Jerry to look them over, keep what he wanted if anything, and send back to me what he didn’t want along with something in trade.
We settled on this lovely 7009-3159 (second from the left). I really like the clean dial. Looks white or silver depending on the angle.
Jerry sent me the 7009 and received the two 6106s from Tom (thanks again Tom for sending). Jerry worked his magic, putting together this complete watch, which came out beautifully.
Jerry decided that he wanted to keep both 6106s, so asked what we should do to even up the trade. I had a couple of 6106-8207s with the nice green sunburst dial, one with bracelet. I proposed that he would fix up one and send back to me and keep what remained. He agreed, so I sent them to him (more on that in a minute).
In the meantime, Jerry being the good guy that he is sent me a quartz 7546 with a really nice blue dial, which I’d previously mentioned I admired. It’s the one on the bottom.
Here’s a cool video slide show Jerry had made when he broke down the train on the 7546, giving it a service previously
Anyway, fast forward to today, when I came home from work to find this beautiful green 6106 waiting for me.
It came out very nice. I particularly like the BOR bracelet.
Here are some group shots of the “Jerry trio”:
I had a lot of fun trading with Jerry. This transaction is a perfect example of why and how this community is so great. I couldn’t be more pleased with the watches, but more importantly, the fun I had making a new friend.
Thanks again, Jerry!
