FS: Seiko 6139-6000 SpeedTimer March 1969 EARLY for parts $400 USD

$

This early March 1969 Pogue SpeedTimer features the original matte hands, early "TAD" dial, domed early style crystal actually in usable condition if you want some patina attitude, original sweeper 2-peice second hand. The subdial hand appears to me to be OEM but newer due to blood red color, as it came to me.

Nice clean edge Notched Case, all original, never polished.

It runs but Power Reserve is low and it will stop at certain angles. It needs a rebuild, but all the parts are there so that is good. Calendar functions perfectly across midnight and by crown pushes.

Pusher at 4 does not reset, you can see why in photo it is missing the hammer spring.

No pushers, no crown. NOS OEM Pogue stem uncut included.

Excellent 'almost there' early March 1969 SpeedTimer, all original. If you can rebuild these this is a great project, or if you are a buyer who ships them off for rebuilding anyway this is a great economic opportunity.

PM if interested.

2nd annual Top Secret fundraiser announcement

Well, it's that time of year again...time for the annual top secret fundraiser!

Before we get into any details though, I want to take the opportunity to thank all those who joined in last year and made our first annual fundraiser such a huge success!

For those who are unfamiliar with the top secret fundraiser or have questions, it's an annual fundraiser aimed at spreading goodwill across the forum and setting the tone for the year. Participation is on a voluntary basis and all the funds donated are transferred directly to the beneficiary. Each year's recipient is different and can be based on need or recognition..or both.

It's just an opportunity to do something kind for our fellow man and in so doing, reap the reward that comes of giving from the heart.

This year, the event will be open to the entire forum with this announcement..those who wish to participate are encouraged to email me directly or send a private message to get the details of the fundraiser and some info about this year's beneficiary.

Email will be the best way to contact me...
My direct email is poolspecter at g mail dot com

Thanks in advance for being a part of this and special thanks to those who have already pledged to donate to this year's event!

Best,

Mike

6309-7040 from the the watch fair

I shared a table with Tiger John, and Andy12r at the Midlands Clock and Watch fair last weekend. About half way through the morning I went for a stroll around the other tables and found this unmolested 6309-7040, a nice early one from March 1978. I was amazed it was still there unsold 2 hours after the fair opened. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't over priced either, and it was much too lovely to ignore! 6309's like this are getting hard to find nowadays.
So, here it is, I am well pleased with it:

Note the Water Resist is still deep red (darker than it appears in this iPhone pic), indicating it has been kept out of the light for much of the past 40 years. (The mark over Resist is a minor chip on the crystal)

This is how I like a tsunami to look... crisp and sharp:

Casing looking good!:

Which strap did the SKX007 originally come with in 1996?

I've just recently acquired an SKX007, serial number 731800, with a 7s26A movement.

I believe this means the watch is from 1997.

These models seem to be absent from the official Seiko catalogs of that era, but I'd love to know which strap this watch would have been originally offered with.

Would it have been a flat vent or a curved vent rubber strap?

Was the jubilee style bracelet available in the 1990's?

Is there any literature about that watch from that period available?

Thanks!

The name of Texas Instruments (TI) might ring a bell to some people as it is currently one of the biggest manufacturers of advanced scientific* calculators. That is the core business of the modern corporation but in the old days TI produced all sorts of office equipment... including watches. This plastic LED is the first in the World "disposable" digital electronic wristwatch was launched to market in 1977 and offered at movie theaters during premiere screenings of "Star Wars". This association with the cult science-fiction saga has made these watches sought after by movie fans as well as sentimental people who owned such watches in their childhood.

This beauty is NOS condition with plastic box and aged paper cover. Any questions, please PM me for further details.
I am asking USD$380 includes shipping with tracking.
I accept PayPal only.

Recommendations for a cheap looking Seiko watch for travel

$

Greetings, I'm a long time lurker and first time poster to this forum. I have something of an odd question. I absolutely love Seiko watches and switch off between a Sarb035 and Skx013 every day. My work occasionally takes me through a country that doesn't have the best safety rating. At the same time I can't bear to be without a Seiko on my wrist! Can anyone recommend a travel watch under the $250.00 range that will fly under the radar of might-be-robbers? I have thin wrists and max out at watches between 36-39 mm diameters and 44-45 mm lug to lug measurement.

Thanks!
